Metoprolol can aggravate the pain symptoms of the autoimmune disease lupus erythematosus. It related to other blood-pressure lowering drugs, oral anti-diabetes medications and many other drugs. Taking metoprolol with certain ergot alkaloids can reduce circulation so dramatically that gangrene (Death and decay of body tissue) in the hands or feet is possible. Patients should inform their health care provider about all the medications which they takes. Smoking can change metoprolol effects, if you smoke or if you plan on quitting while taking metoprolol tell your healthcare provider. Cocaine can also reduce the effectiveness of metoprolol. Without directed by a doctor Patients should not stop taking metoprolol .If the patients having  too much trouble causing by the effects of metoprolol, patients should contact their doctor immediately. Pregnant women should not stop Metoprolol suddenly. Instead, the dosage should be tapered off over about couple of weeks .Suddenly stopping the drug can cause breathing problems, chest pain, irregular ,fast heartbeat or excessive sweating, and irregular.
